The crash of this seaplane is one of two airplane crash sites on Mt. Tamalpias (Marin County, Ca.). The details of the crash can be found at http://www.sonic.net/azfuller/pbm5bu.htm . Those lucky enough to cache this previous version of this web page got good instructions on how to find it. Given the amount of debris that has disappeared, those instructions have been removed.
The photos I took are from April 2000, and clearly don't show as much debris as the web site mentioned above. This is due to poachers taking souvenirs. My advice is just to take photos and leave the airplane remains for others to discover. I didn't discover the engine (which nobody would steal), so the crash site may be bigger than this one particular area.
