Sand dunes in the early morning at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.

Rainbow near the ET highway.

Sunset by the ET Highway. I think the camera has been nibbling on the local peyote, or I cranked up the saturation just a tad.

The land near the Tonopah Test Range is part of the BLM Wild Horse Management.

Burrows on Mt. Charleston. [Jenna and Barbara on the right.]
One of the things that makes me sure space aliens have altered the Nevada landscape is Pahrangat Valley. While everything in the general area is desert, the Pahrangat Valley has an abundance of water. These next two photos are of the Upper Pahrangat Lake. They are basically the same shot from different heights, i.e. one from the road by the lake and the other from the shore of the lake. The spots on the lake where the water gets as smooth as glass are probably due to the remains of alien space ships in the water.

Warm Springs is at the intersection of highways 6 and 375. Everything at the intersection is boarded up, but there is a payphone that works. Note that the payphone only accepts calling cards. I guess it isn't worth the effort to collect the change. This photo shows that there really is a warm spring in Warm Springs. It is right at the intersection of the highways. The stream follows the road. Note the steam rising from the stream. The outside temperature when this photo was taken was about 60 degrees, so that water must be pretty hot. The source of the energy to create this steam is probably space alien nuclear technology. Either that or geothermal.

Lunar Crater and Easy Chair Crater
The Nevada "ET Experience" brochure ( http://www.travelnevada.com/activities/et/et_hwy.html ) indicates these craters are due to volcanic activity. Clearly, this is what they want you to believe. Of course we know that space aliens must of been involved. I got there a bit too late in the day to get a good shot of the Lunar Crater, but here is a photo of the Easy Chair Crater. If you get the opportunity to see these sites, get there no later than the early afternoon as the craters will not be lit once the sun gets low in the sky. I took the shot of Easy Chair Crater from the Lunar Crater parking area. However, you would probably get a better photo if you climb the hill behind the Lunar Crater to get more elevation so that you can see into the Easy Chair Crater. Note that if you do travel to the Easy Chair Crater, the road (seen in the photo) does not go all the way to the edge of the crater. You have to hike up the hill.

The map below is a portion of the Warm Springs USGS topo map. The contour line interval is 50 ft. It would be a good idea to have the topo maps for the area as there are very few road signs.

Cottontail Ranch
I spotted this ranch near highway 95S on the way from Tonopah to Las Vegas. The sign says they are always open. I guess people in this area take their rabbits really seriously to have a 24 and 7 rabbit shop. The rotating red beacon makes this place hard to miss. In fact, red lights seem to be the general theme for the Cottontail Ranch.
