Sandia Complex at the Tonopah Test Range

This photograph below was taken in June 2007. An additional water tower was added to the complex. While a jpeg2000 panorama also shows this area, due to how it is cropped, the black object in the hole in the lower left hand  is cutoff.

"Drive-in Theater"

This area is some sort of a target range. Beyond that, who knows. It is unusual to have a target range on a slope.

TTR Panoramic [June 2007] [Photograph taken from Mojo Mound] [15Mbytes in jp2 jpeg2000 format]

The following photographs require the Lizardtech djvu plug in.

TTR Panoramic (August 2001) photo taken from Mount Diablo about 7 miles away from base (northern most viewing spot)

TTR Panoramic (October 2002) photo taken from Mojo Mound, about 13 miles from base (southern most viewing spot)

Wide TTR and S4 Panoramic (January 2003), taken from Clif Point. This panoramic is to give you some insight as to how far away these sites are from the closest public land.  On the right side of this panoramic is the famed Brainwash Butte. If you look carefully, you can see a bit of the fence. [Unlike Groom Lake, the TTR is fenced off.]

TTR Panoramic (August 2004) taken from Mojo Mound. At the far right, there is a C130. If you look carefully, you can spot this unidentified airplane. More photos of this plane can be found on the main TTR page. [Ack, don't click this link if you came from the main TTR page, else it will load twice.]

TTR night photograph (August 2004) from Mojo Mound.

The two white planes at the left of the photo are probably Janet planes, but you really can't tell at this resolution. The hangars at the right date back to when the F117 fleet used to be based here. Note that the third hangar from the right is open, but who knows what is inside...

The TTR has lots of little "targets" to photograph. These structures are on the east side of the range.

The buildings near the north entrance of the TTR are dormitories. This is the "mancamp" that you occasionally see mentioned on the net. If you look through this photograph you can spot a basketball hoop, which pretty much implies the use of the buildings.

tonopah test range

This photograph is comprised of a series of photographs done with a 1280mm Mak telescope plus 2x barlow.  Markers are placed along the top of the photograph for reference. For example, the VOR can be found near marker 21. In the same area but at the bottom of the photograph there appears to be weapons bunkers. Near marker 9 you can see a missile. Originally this looked to be decoration on the main building, but the missile was missing in later photos, so it was probably a missile ready to be tested. There appears to be a missile on a launcher near marker 2.

Note that building at the left of the photograph are further way than buildings at the right. Thus the perspective of the panoramic is in a sense false.
